CELEBRATING HANUKKAH & CHRISTMAS

PART OF OUR ONE WORLD FESTIVAL

This event was the second online event in our One World Festival series, celebrating Hanukkah and Christmas. Broadcast live on our YouTube channel, and still available to watch again now, we enjoyed stories, heard from a curator about St Nicholas, and enjoyed crafts, carols and more.

EVENT PROGRAMME

2.30pm Welcome & Introduction
2.35pm Storytelling (25 mins)
'Light of the Heart' Stories with Jewish storyteller Adele Moss and Muslim storyteller Jumana Moon.
2.55pm

Hanukkah Family Craft (20 mins)
Make a hanging Hanukkah Menorah. What you'll need:

  • Paper plate or card
  • Coloured paper (or you can colour the candles in)
  • Silver or shiny paper for the flames
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Ribbon/string or wool to hang
3.15pm Curator Talk: St Nicholas (5 mins)

Christmas Card Family Craft (15 mins)
Make a Snowy Landscape Pop-Up. What you'll need:

  • Snowy Landscape Pop-Up
  • 2 sheets of A4 white card
  • Coloured paper - blue tissue paper is ideal, but any will do
  • Small piece of silver kitchen foil
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Black felt tip pen
  • Small glass to draw circle around
  • Ruler

A Prayer (7 mins)
Join Reverend Charlotte Bannister-Parker for a prayer.

3.45pm Christmas Choirs (10 mins)
A sneak preview of 'The Big Christmas Sing' with primary school and OCMS choirs from across Oxfordshire
