Author and Art Historian Ross King will tell the astonishing story of 15th-century Florentine bookseller, Vespasiano da Bisticci, the 'King of the world’s booksellers', in this exclusive online talk for Members. He provided Popes, Kings, Princes and scholars with beautiful manuscripts and through his remarkable team of scribes and illuminators helped to spread across Europe, the wisdom of newly discovered works by authors such as Cicero and Plato. The talk is based on our speaker’s recent book, ‘The Bookseller of Florence’.
