Halima Cassell, also part of the Hand Built exhibition, will be presenting a Masterclass demonstration at the Museum later this summer, so watch this space for more details.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Alison Britton is a leading British ceramic artist with an international reputation. She was one of the influential group of students who came out of the Royal College of Art in the 1970s. Their radical  work challenged and deconstructed notions of ceramics and became known as 'New Ceramics'. Britton has concentrated on making, studying and understanding pots.  Her distinctive sculptural works blur the line between art and craft. Her works are hand-built from rolled slabs of clay, not thrown on a wheel. She has exhibited worldwide and also writes and lectures on current practice and curates exhibitions. 

Annie Turner is a ceramic sculptor living and working in Suffolk. She studied three dimensional design and ceramics at the Royal College of Art. She is inspired by natural fragments collected in the banks of the river Deben, as well as by the weather, landscape, water, the tides and the changing seasons. Her work can be seen in museum collections, at the V&A and the Fitzwilliam and she was shortlisted for the Loewe craft prize in July 2019 in Tokyo.
